At Pearland High School, any student in the 9th through 12th grade may audition for Prancers. Auditions will be held Thursday, December 16 after school.
Besides dance and performance skills, students must also maintain a passing average in all classes to be eligible to audition, and must have a current, passing grade in all classes at the time auditions are held.
Interested students are required to enroll in the Drill Team Training class for one semester to be eligible to audition for the team.
The drill team training class is offered during the fall semester only and is taught by the director of the Junior Varsity Prancer team. The class focuses on foundational dance skills and prepares students to audition for the Prancer dance team. Only students who have successfully passed the Drill Team Training class are eligible to audition.
Potential Prancers are also expected to maintain conduct and behavior that is becoming of the Prancer organization. Students who recieve ISS, expulsion, or assignment to ALA are not eligible to audition for Prancers.
Like all organizations, being a Prancer can incur some considerable out of pocket expenses for equipment, uniforms, accessories, shoes, camps, pictures, etc...Although the Prancers may participate in several fundraisers throughout the year to help reduce expenses, each girl can expect to spend, on average, $50.00 to $100.00 per month.
